Crap... I hate when I do this...

After detailing how to do this, I'm about to tell you not to...

I just looked up the specs for your netbook... it's a single core ATOM machine with the Intel chipset. This is a 1.6ghz machine with a processor about equivalent to a pentium 3 in performance using a chipset that is not known for good video or audio capabilities.

Win7 might install and run but video and audio playback is going to massively suck.

I have an ASROCK ION 330 that works perfectly as my HTPC with XP. I put Windows 7 in it and then struggled with it for 3 weeks trying to get it to play simple MP3 files and low bitrate AVI files. The ASRock is a dual core Atom with the highly optimized Nvidia ION chipset and it couldn't do it... I had to put XP back in before there was a family rebellion.

So... be warned... if you do get your Dell netbook running Win7, you might be in for some pretty nasty problems.
I want to address the above. I've put Win7 on this machine before. It worked beautifully and I was even able to play Perfect World International or Half Life with everything turned down. I'm sure any HTPC, probably pumping out at 1080p, would be as bad as this guy describes. My sound card is garbage, but video and audio playback are very smooth on my machine. I would know because I use it to watch unconverted media all the time. CommonTater, I hope your HTPC does well with your outdated Winders. Your solution may be drivers or something simple and you deserve Winders 7 just as much as I do or something.

And today before I was about to give up and install an outdated Winders, I torrented (*schmoll*) one last copy of Windows 7. Then I mounted it on a virtual drive with MagicISO, and I put it on my same old Western Digital HDD using Novicorp WinToFlash, and the install worked perfectly. My problem was actually just a bad ISO two times in a row. Other people report that preparing an installation media is a very delicate process, and many tries or a very slow burn speed may be the only remedy.

Thank you all for your help, and I know you mean well, but I've solved my problem. After you've discussed it further, please fetch a moderator to close this thread.
