    update from USB?

would it be possible to update without burning another disc?

currently running build 7000, what would be the best release to go for?

p.s. i have discs, just lazy/dont feel like using it if theres another way

    Hi clockwork,

Yes it is entirely possible. You need to first extract the contents of the downloaded ISO image (PowerISO or Winzip work well) to the external/USB HD in a directory of your choice.

Then just run the setup file & choose to upgrade rather than advanced install. I would choose build 7077 as it's the most stable.

    Hope this helps :)

you cant just extract the files to the thumbdrive. you also need to make the thumbdrive bootable (copying files does not do this).

Run CMD.EXE and type the following. Note: This set of commands assumes that the USB flash drive is addressed as "disk 1". you should double check that by doing a list of the disks (type "list disk") before cleaning it. If you have multiple hard drives, like an SDFlash drive or a Multibay drive, you could end up wiping your second drive using this command.

    1. diskpart
    2. select disk 1 (read warning above, be sure you pick the usb drive)
    3. clean
    4. create partition primary
    5. select partition 1
    6. active
    7. format fs=fat32
    8. assign
    9. exit
after doing the above, you just have to copy the files from the iso to the usb drive

From there, choose your thumb drive when you see your BIOS's splash screen.

That's ok. Thanks for answering. I'm build 7100 right now. We actually had a post about it, but in a different forum :)
