    Problems installing

Ok so i have a Dell inspiron 1520 with a A08 BIOS with Windows XP

One day I turn on my laptop to an instant blue screen of death.
the error of this bsod is "unmountable_boot_volume"
so I decided to go and to wait and buy Windows 7 like I planed.

I buy the CDs and start the setup.

    I get 2 partitons
    Disk 0 Partition 1
    Disk 0 unassocolated space (sp)

I choose Partition 1 and It stays on a screen with in bold
    copying windows files (0%)
for like 30 minutes, stuck on 0.

Then finally an error saying something like it can't setup on that partitions.

Then I try formating the driver first and get

"Windows could not format a partion on disk 0. The error occured while preparing the partion selected for installation. Error code 0x80070057".

I then decide to use the command prompt and do a DISKPART and CLEAN ALL.

I get an error saying it couldn't.

Then after that error my C Drive is no longer visible.

My only thought at the moment was use my windows Xp Cd to fix the first bsod error, but I can't find my CD.

So I talked to Microsoft for like 3 hours trying to help me. The conclusion theory is to update my bios from A08 to A09.
I'm going to try this with a bootable CD and get back at this forum, but does anyone know the real problem?

P.s the harddrive is like 3 months new.

Actually have the exact same comp. The current BIOS is A10 not 8 or 9.

I suspect your HD is toast. Can you boot from anything? dvd, USB, BIOS< etc?

Well I was able to boot from the Windows 7 Setup CD like I said. I just assume my bios is too outdated to download windows 7.

So I'm going to update it later on when I get the chance
