    I got it solved.

    I created a boot disk from ultimatebootcd.com

I was then able to create a partition and set the hd as active. Windows then was able to see it and the rest went smooth.

    Thanks for the help

i have a macbook pro with os x installed and i just recently bought 640 gb and used boot camp to partition windows, im planning to use windows 7, all goes well until the end where it says start installation..

i kept my window 7 cd in and the comp rebooted to install windows 7, i brought me to a place where i need to select the partition..

problem is I CANT SEE ANY PARTITION!!!!

though i can use my mac os without any problem but when i want to install windows with the help of a bootcamp its frustrating

Is the partition Primary and formatted with NTFS?

yea its primary partition but the format is fat32 reason being when i used bootcamp it only formats in fat32 only, it doesn't show any option for saving the partition as Ntfs or fat32
