    Install Drives Missing

Hello, I'm having an issue installing Windows 7 (7100) 64 bit.
(I have also tried 32 bit and 32 bit v7000)
#Note, I burned the disk to a TDK-R 4.7gig Dvd using imgBurn at x2 write speed and verify. I also use the disk to install a guest os in vm workstation. So I know the disk is fine.

The install fails shortly after clicking "Install Now"
At first I get a cd/dvd driver device error or w/e. I load the drivers for my dvd drive. All goes well.

Then I get to the area I would normally select the install drive/reformat section. Instead of seeing C: & D: as usual the list is completely blank.
This is where I'm stuck and I have no clue how to fix it. Any help is much appreciated.

    My specs are:
#Note my computer is 64 bit compatible.

    Current OS: Vista 32bit Ultimate
Video Card: eVGA eGeforce GTS 8800 640M DDR3 (NVidia)
    Processor: Core 2 Duo E6600 4M 2.4GHz
    Memory: 2G 667M 2x1G Crucial Ballistix
Motherboard: Asus P5N32-E SLI Plus DD2 PCE 650i
Hard Drives: 2 Seagate 250G SATA II 16M
    DVD/CD Burner: LiteOn LH-20A1S SATA

Have you been into bios to see if all your drives are listed there?

Yes I have, and both drives and dvd drives are showing.

I used to see this type of issue supporting older Dell machines. The OS CDs that were being used for Windows XP installs didn't have the appropriate drivers necessary to identify the IDE/SATA controllers in use.

Couple of things I'd recommend checking. First off, your MB (as per ASUS) supports RAID. This means there may be a RAID controller onboard. Can you check your BIOS and see if this is the case, and if so, if you can turn it off.

If you want to use RAID on the machine you might need drivers for your RAID controller. I started poking around online but have not been able to find any.

Yea it supports raid, and raid controller is off. I use both my drives independently. However Sata-controller is enabled.

You need to leave the SATA controller on, especially if you are using SATA drives :)

Any clue what SATA controller you have though? The ASUS specs don't show? If you can find that you can check it against the WHCL to make sure it's supported.

I'm more than a little rubbish in this area. But I believe it uses
"NVIDIA MCP55 Package Driver V1.08" as the chipset, and is WHQL compatible.
