How can I make my Hard Drive clear?

    Hi,

I want to ask something about. I want to re-install Windows 7 on my Hard Drive also I want to do my Hard Drive clear. I don't want tracks prints from older Windows 7. So How I can do this? If I format my hard drive with commands on MS-DOS, can it delete everything? Or can someone brings it back easily? That is my common problem. I want to delete everything, I want to install a fresh Windows 7 in my hard drive.

    Thanks.

Just use the standard Windows 7 installation disc. When it asks you which hard drive you want to install to, it'll give you the option of formatting your drive. A quick-format should suffice, but if you want to be thorough, do a full format.

Use DBAN or Killdisk ,both work the same. You will have to back up anything that you need because it will destroy all data. Make sure that you only hook up the hard drive that you are erasing and unplug the others to avoid erasing the wrong drive.

Just wipe using one "random pass". It will work fine to ensure data is gone and anything more is overkill.

If you need more info on how to make a bootable disk or USB to use those programs we can help with that also.

Boot Win7 DVD, press Shift F10, open Command Line, type:

    DISKPART
    LIST DISK
SELECT DISK # (replace # with target HD #)
    CLEAN ALL
    EXIT

This writes zeroes to HD, which is deepest clean. The DOD standard for deep clean is three sets of zeroes, which means you'd do it three times, however be aware it takes a long time on larger drives so do it overnight.
