Vista only starts in safemode, normal start chrashes ?

    hi !

i got a problem with Vista, a normal start causes a crash (+memdump),
it only starts in safemode, any ideas on how to repair it ?
i have already ran the installation-disk several times.

whatīs a little bit mysterious is the fact that last time i used that Vista-partition it worked normally.
i then copied all files to a new partition on another harddisk and i have since then used that partion instead.

i changed CPU 2 days ago, can that be the cause ?
the computer is otherwise working OK, iīm running W7 on a another partition.

sorry should have explained that a little better Ideally from Vista, as im not sure it will show what i want to know if Win 7 has been booted, what im looking for is to see whether the Vista partition is marked as "Active" or "Boot" but this will depend on whether you have a 100MB system reserved partition,

well, looking at "Disk Management screen" in W7,
the Vista partition is marked "Healthy, Active, Primary",
itīs partition #1 on HD #2, and has no "100MB system reserved partition".

i donīt want to shutdown W7 now and switch to Vista, i have other important work to do, so i need it running...

thats fine, told me what i needed to know.... well bang goes that idea....

i then copied all files to a new partition on another harddisk and i have since then used that partion instead.

what files did you copy? were they just pictures and documents and such? or OS files?

p#1 on hd#1 is the boot partition, so the "old" Vista-p was boot-partition before i got a new hd, which is now hd#1.

i can start the "old"-Vista on p#1 hd#2 but as i said above, only in "safemode".

"what files did you copy? "
why, what has that to do with the problem ?
    i copied EVERYTHING.
