    1) Use the product key on the Widows 7 disc. You can enter this during installation and check the box for automatic activation.
    2) Clean install IS custom install. To use your upgrade disc to custom install follow the steps here...Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version
    3) This will happen when you custom install
    4) x64 is 64 bit. x86 is 32 bit. You want x64 but it depends what version of Windows 7 is actually on your disc
    5) You can turn UAC off once you have Windows up and running.
My Upgrade DVD has both versions on it, his may have it as well.
Yeah he does. It says so in his first post but I over-looked it.
I'm a girl the last time I checked LOL

I think someone missed my question: with automatic activation, I get the impression that it takes 3 days to activate it... is that a 3 day grace period or you wait 3 days to use the computer....?

Activation time is as long as it takes you to allow the activation process to complete online. Generally around 5 seconds and you are good to go.

Ok, reading up on the Custom Install, in step 14, you enter in the PK, and if I want to activate it later to make sure the OS is working I bypass that until I'm ready to activate. However, in the Activate Windows, during the manual activation, if I want to activate it now, I have to type in the PK.

Ok....I have to type in the PK twice...???

    this is confusing...

    clear this up, please? thanks!

and Girls should wear PINK ninja hoods and Boys wear BLACK ninja hoods... LOL

Either type in the Product Key upfront and it will activate when you connect to the internet (if you tick the box), or...

Do it later at Control Panel>System link.

During installation you will be asked for the product key. You can enter it when asked (and tick the box for auto activation) or you can continue the setup without entering the key (untick the box for auto activation) and enter the key and activate later. It's your choice.

Sorry. When I was writing my post I was thinking if I should use "they", since I had no idea if you were male or female, even though you have a feminine username.
