Thanks. Been there... I've searched the registry for Raxco, "perfect" and a few other things. Still nothing. The registry has none of these things in it.

So Windows does it again... even with "search hidden and system files" on as well as "Computer" selected as the target, it seems Windows Vista still cannot properly search the hard drive. Using a third-party search tool, I found "prefectdisk.exe" in a PcMover directory (a tool I used to help migrate programs/settings from XP to Vista).
Removing that file did allow the upgrade to continue.
Thanks for all the other thoughts along the way... it kept me at this.
In all my excitement, I forgot to post the link to SizeExplorer Pro. A handy little doodad I found:

Thank you. I corrected the quote. I get a bit jumpy when an unexpected action occurs.
What does BSN stand for?
Simply goto program files and type perfectdisk in the search bar and delete everything it finds related to the query, it worked for me and vista still worked and the upgrade allowed me to continue.
Sorry... windows search is lousy and didn't find everything (no matter what "advanced" options I tried) so I went with the third-party search which worked in 30 seconds and found what Vista search could not.
