    Ok

Sorry LordBob I read it as the Home and Pro versions had different levels of security as I was going to put Pro on the desktop when I bought it but the dealer told me I wouldn't need it and that Home would be all I would need.

So I naturally when I saw the thread posts re networking thought should I update now to Pro on the desktop if I wanted to network my machines at home.(am a bit paranoid re security stuff)

However a couple of real nice folks have put me right on a thread I posted re networking - it's only for linking my machines for transferring files etc plus my router wireless feature is disabled anyway .

    Sorry again for the confusion.

How can you tell if your computer is a 64 bit computer? I like to learn new things about computers so i decided to try a linux distro along side windows. It said my computer was capable of running the new 64bit OS's...The distro was Debian 6.0, this however isnt the only distro i have played with i have tried Ubuntu 10.10 and earlier versions and Debian 6 was the only one that said i can use a 64 bit OS.. Just curious thanks

Most modern computers have a x64 CPU, it is the way the OS is coded that makes it x32 or x64. Windows still sells a lot of x32 OSes standard, though that is slowly changing.

Windows 7 (32bit) is idéal for the smal config and not soucis, the 32 bit application no disappear of day at Tomorrow. The real interest of (64 bit) is for the great app who are need of great resource. If you doing editing video, or if you use autocad or powerpoint, there is a real utility.

Good reading. The real deciding factor then would be the capability on the motherboard and also processer. I have just discovered this site a few days ago and i must admit it has been a learning experience.

    Thanks guys
