User Account Password Reset Options in Windows 7
Just so everyone will know, here's a guide that lists all three options at the link below.
User Account Password Reset Options in Windows 7
"How To Reset A Windows Password" requires a disk which I did not have; it's a brand new laptop, and hadn't gotten that far.
"Using System Restore" I had one restore point, but that didn't work.
This looked very promising . . . "How To Change the User Account Password If Unable To Log Into Windows" First thing it asks you for is your password . . .
The other tools I'm sure will come in handy for other password/account related issues . . . and the rest of the options required a disk.
The second site: Password Reset Disk : Windows 7 / Vista
has the same requirements as the first site.
If I'd of been far enough along to have the disk, it wouldn't have been a problem.
Thanks for the references.
Hello again.
This below, from the tutorials will show you how to obtain a disk to use.
Have a look at Option Two!
Information
If you don't have a proper Windows installation disk, have a look at the link below to create a repair disk that can be used to reset your user account password in Windows 7 and Vista.
System Repair Disc - Create
I just did it thru safemode with command prompt. Took about 2 mins.
Hmmmmmmmmmm, I'll try again.
5 repair disks wouldn't have done me any good, because in order to do anything, I had to have the admin password which I didn't have, hence the Linux hack. :)
We never give up ...
This admin account was newly created by me.Bought new Vaio VPCEB 11FX (VPCE Series) yesterday.
Unboxed, and (per instructions - Vaio) performed Windows update and VAIO Update.
Getting late, so I clicked the power off button.
Today, I can not log in to the Admin account. This is the first and only account on the new system.

Thanks theog . . .
When I booted the laptop, at the initial login, the first account I created was the "User Admin account." I entered my password, and got, "Incorrect username or password"
The screen only displayed my User Admin account, so that is the account I was trying to log into.
I wrote down my username and password on a sticky, logged in at least twice using these credentials, then the following morning they no longer work. (I'm the only one here.)
Using a "Windows" fix would have been the correct way to go about repairing the problem, I just didn't/don't know the fix.
Reread all the posts one of the fix's will work, if not do a reinstall.
