    Administration status blocks customization

Hi, I have tried to sort through the Admin fiasco in Win 7, default admin, "real" admin, just plain user, plain as mud, only M$ could create such convolution. I have Win 7 Ultimate and really like it....BUT....with a 30 inch 16 x 9 display, DVI in, hard to get a sharp screen....fonts in particular are blurred. I have gone through true type, no help.

Part of the problem is the "default" fonts. I think I know how to change them, but, big but, I cannot unlock the administration blockage even logged in as Administrator. I believe that is the problem as there is the gold & blue shield and the actions I want to take are grayed out, thus you can't click on them.

I have read others have set up an Admin with a password only to screw up their installation and I am unwilling to risk that as I have my OS set up just as I want it other than the font issue. Also, same problem in using the format capability of Win 7 for a hard drive, the gold shield/grayed out "format" cannot be accessed, again even though I am logged in as Admin. I must be missing something here, please any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for anticipated response(s).

So I take it the folder that is locked is c:\windows\fonts. there are two ways to gain access.

If you are runing as an admin right click the font>properties>security. Find who owns the folder files and add yourself to that group, or take ownership. there is a great tutorial on taking ownership here in the tutorial section. Just search on it

Ken, thanks for the effort, still does not work. This admin thing is such a screwed up mess, what kind of idiots dream this stuff up? Problem, no matter what kind of identity I log in with, hidden, plain admin, user, even giving full access, still the blue & gold shield comes up and with it, the actions I need to click on are "grayed" out so I can do nothing. I wish there was a way to remove that damned shield and all things related to admin.

I have been working on Elive linux and it has none of this nonsense, might have to for-go M$, too much BS just to use a computer. Good OS ruined by nerds seemingly interested only in justifying their existence by piling crap on top of crap. Again, thanks and sorry, not to be taken out on you, we are all victims of this mentality.
