Cant install os to hard drive

Have a problem with installing windows 7. It says that "the windows can not be installed to this disc. this computers hardware may not support booting to this disc. ensure that the discs controller is enabled in the computer bios menu".
I have looked in the bios and cant see anything of relevance to enable anything. the HDD is a seagate barracuda 7000.9. Any possible fixes anybody knows of have googled it extensively and found nothing.

Hi and welcome to the forums
Is the HD listed in your BIOS?
Are you overclocking via BIOS (per your System Specs)? I recommend reverting everything to Auto or default before installing.

No problem, but please tell me: does the BIOS list the HD correctly?
Also, can you let us know your Mobo make and model?

ASUS p7p55d is the mobo and it does indeed show the HDD in the bios.

    Nice one
Make sure the controller is not set up as RAID in BIOS (shouldn't be if it wasn't changed, but you never know)
Have you gotten to the screen where you can load drivers for your HD?

    Thanks for the feedback.
Have you tried another cable? Maybe it is not the drive (and that would save you a return hassle).
