    Windows 7 question?

    hey guys and girls.

i have a big issue which i need help with,
i own a Acer Aspire 5357z laptop which currently held windows vista home basic, stupid me tried doing a partition with linux mint with windows vista and by doing this linux mint completely removed important files which windows vista needed and removed all recovery console, back ups and restore points.

as i didnt get a windows vista CD with my laptop the only solution i had was to do a complete install of linux mint and remove windows vista off the HDD.

as i own a gaming pc i upgraded vista home basic SP1 to windows 7 ultimate which worked lovely.

my question to you is would it work if i installed windows 7 ultimate on my Acer aspire???

if it did work would i need to get hold of the drivers to support my acer laptop or will windows 7 provide them for me??

as i had an option to either upgrade win 7 or install win 7.

i really hope it works, dont get me wrong i love linux and windows operation systems but as my mother is stuck with linux and needs windows support for her work at home.

    thanks everyone,
    Regards

    Zeuss

PS: love the msn emotions on the right hand side :)

Welcome Zeuss, to the Windows 7 support forums, as I understand your issue you require to install Windows 7 onto your Acer Laptop.
You will need a copy of windows 7 to accomplish this, as I understand you upgraded from Vista to windows 7 on your desktop.
The Windows 7 upgrade will also perform a complete install on your machine, you will have a conflict because you have OS7 running on an existing machine using the install key. Installing the same OS 7 with the same key on another machine will not work.

    Thank you Adrian,

what about the driver side of things, would i need to visit acer website and manually download the support drivers which i cant find windows 7 on there or would windows 7 automatically run the laptop?

    Thanks again.
