Windows 7 RC Freezes during startup.

Hey guys i recently got the Windows 7 RC, i burnt it, booted up, it passed the ' Starting Windows ' phase but then freezes on the first screen which uses a colourful, blue wallpaper, I can move the mouse but nothing else, the cd drive & hard drive stop loading. I am currently using XP SP3 and any help would really be appreciated, Thanks.

MB: ASRock 4CoreDual-SATA2
CPU: Q6600 G0
RAM: 2GB Ballistix
GPU: ATi Radeon X1950 AGP 512MB
PSU: Corsair 620w
OS: XP SP3 upgrading to Windows 7 RC 64-bit

Are you past the install choice?

no, you see, i see the ' Windows Loading ' screen and the ' Windows Startup '. As soon as i see the colourful blue background and the mouse cursor it freezes or stops loading, i am still able to move the mouse at this point but after endless waiting, nothing happening. Thanks.

Ah. I see somebody helpful has moved your thread. Hopefully someone on this thread will have more idea than I do.
I take it you're attemoting a dual boot and have dreated an unallocated space to put W7?

Well, its a clean install where i boot up from the DVD on PC startup, i was hoping to format.

UPDATE:
I read in a few other threads this could be caused by the DVD drive im using, i replaced it and now when it reachs that same screen the mouse cursor shows the loading symbol for 5 seconds but then stops, nothing then seems to happen, i look at my HDD LED and it flashs every 2 seconds with a quik multi flash every 5 single flashs, if that made any sense, i hope you can help, Thanks.

wouldn't you be better going for a dual boot? there are several threads and tutotials on that.
If this goes wrong you won't have a system.

yea i just realised i cant dual boot since i need to boot up the Windows 7 disk first right? I even tried booting from USB and the same problem, surely this means its either my hardware or software? Possibly Windows 7 64bit?

Hang on. I'm not sure I understand. You have XP installed right?
I don't think you can upgrade from XP to Windows 7.
I think your only good choice is to dual boot. You would have to use something like gparted to shrink your XP install and then install W7 on a small partition ( at least 20GB )
Then you would get a choice at boot and choose which os you wanted to go into.
Also this is still only the release candidate so I'd definitely want to keep my XP install as well if I were you.
If you look in tutorials on the home page you'll find tutorials about dual booting. I've found them really useful
