Windows XP to Vista - Better for gaming? Basically I'm at a stalemate with myself. I know well about Vista's issues - but what I'm wondering is from a gaming point of view. I'm currently running Windows XP Professional SP2 (my Windows 7 disc is 64 bit only and won't run on this rig 'till I upgrade the CPU =( ) and essentially I'm wondering - is Vista any better for gaming? For the record, I've an ATi Radeon HD 4350 graphics card. | My System Specs |

we'll try to help anyway.
how come your windows 7 disc is 64bit only? i've got two discs in my package (but only one key)...
my advice is to stick with xp for now. vista will give you access to directx10 (for what it's worth), but your graphics card isn't the most powerful.
any reason why you aren't on service pack 3? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number mickey megabyte 1234 OS ultimate 64 sp1 CPU i5 2500K 3.3@4.2GHz Motherboard MSI P67A-GD53 Memory 8 gigs GSkill Ripjaws 1600 Graphics Card amd hd6950 Sound Card creative x-fi gamer Monitor(s) Displays samsung 24" Screen Resolution 1920x1080 Keyboard saitek eclipse ii Mouse logitech g3 PSU antec 550 Case antec three hundred Cooling i'm a cooling fan Hard Drives ocz vertex 2e 60 gig, samsung f3 1tb, buffalo 2tb ext Internet Speed about 4 Mbps Other Info i love win7 |

Yeah I figured that about DX10. From a purely gaming standpoint you are probably better off with XP than with Vista. Vista needs more resources than XP. Just for the record: There are really no issues or problems with Vista at this point in time. I run a couple of Vista and a couple of Windows 7 systems and find less problems in Vista than in Windows 7. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number HP, Dell, Gateway, Toshiba - 4 laptops and 2 desktops OS Vista, Windows7, Mint Mate, Zorin, Windows 8 CPU from 1.6GHz Duo to i7 Monitor(s) Displays 2x HP w2207 Keyboard with trackball - no mices Mouse Trackball mice Hard Drives 5x HDD, 7x SSD, 12x Externals Internet Speed DSL 6000 Windows XP to Vista - Better for gaming? problems?
