Where did you get Win7 installer? The error normally means the installer is bad.

Download the latest official installer for your licensed version to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 follow the steps to reinstall.

I know this is an older thread, but there is another solution I wanted to share. This happens on some of the Gigabyte motherboards and the solution I found is to go into the BIOS. Then select "Integrated Peripherals", "NV Serial ATA Controller" and change "All enabled" to "SATA". Save changes and exit. This has worked for me on 3 different occasions of Windows 7 not finding the hard drive on installation when using different Gigabyte motherboards.

What are the other choices for settings there, so we know for sure which you're referring to.

You have three choices for the NV Serial-ATA Controller.

    All Enabled
    SATA-1
    Disabled

The default is all enabled. This allows you to select all SATA controllers to be enabled or just the first. When I experienced the hard drive not showing up I simply change this setting and it will then show up on Windows 7 installation. I'm not sure if it is an issue with the multiple controllers and Windows 7 or just a issue within the BIOS, but this change works for me with Gigabyte motherboards.

Is there another SATA controller setting offering the standard choices: AHCI, IDE, RAID, etc?

I'm wondering how your board handles those sub-choices.

This particular board does not have any IDE connections. There is no other SATA controller options or settings that can be changed in the BIOS, except there is settings to run in RAID configuration.

Thanks for the information as we have a lot of problems here with Giga mobos. If you'd state the exact model and what your solution provides again in a single tight sentence the Google crawler will pick it up to help countless others.
