Windows can't see the hard drive.

I have ATA hard disc and during the instalation Windows can't see my hard drive so I can't install the system. I have Vista, and I want to delete current system and install 7 on the same drive. Any ideas?

Hi! I have the very same problem! It is standard Seagate 80GB IDE ATA disk. It works fine, I have dismounted it from other PC and when put into mine it tries to boot its WinXP. So it works. But when running the W7 installation, there is no disk to choose from. Any ideas please?

Does it not see the drive when you run it in vista or just when you boot from the disc? and since you have vista installed can you provide a screenshot of the disk management.

If I may... my drive is visible everywhere but in W7 installation.

Yes but the question is are you running the installation in windows or booting from the W7 disc.

Booting from W7 disc. The disc works also fine because now I am running on W7 from a different SATA disk. But I have to return it (it is borrowed) and I would like to use that ATA disk.

It is visible in Vista while installing from My computer, but cannot install as there's diffrent languages conflict (current system is polish and W7 is english). However it is not visible while booting from the disc.

    Found this about my HDD

If your running raid and the setup does not see the drive you need to press F6 when prompted to install the drivers, once you have the drivers installed the setup should see your drive.

I'm a little mixed up, Is the sata drive on a different machine or the same machine as the pata drive?
