Help! Boot problems!

I am at work, so I apologize for not having as many details as I could.

I am having issues booting my EMachines PC. I can turn the power on, the machine shows the E-Machines logo, and I can press function keys to get to BIOS or choose where to boot from. After that, where it would normally go to the windows boot screen, I get nothing. Endless blackness.

Have you tried the built in "Startup Repair"?

My PC did not come with a Windows Disk. How would I get to start-up repair?

the startup repair option usually comes up after a failed attempt of booting.
If I recall correctly, hitting F8 after the POST should get you into the startup options.

I get the option for delete for BIOS and f10 for Boot From options, and the screen goes blank before I even get to the "windows" portion of the boot-up. Will I be able to hit f8 before I get there?

As suggested, try tapping F8 at bootup to see if the Repair console has been placed on it.

If so, open Repair console and accept any offered Repair. If this fails, boot back into Repair, click through to Recovery Tools list to run Startup Repair. Startup Repair

If not try Last Known Good COnfiguration from that Advanced Boot Tools menu.

You may need to burn a Win7 Repair CD to do these repairs: System Repair Disc - Create

If the Repair will not complete for any reason, you need to make sure Win7 partition is marked Active using the Repair console's Command Line: Partition - Mark as Active
Then click through to Recovery Tools list to run Startup Repair up to 3 separate times with reboots.

You may also need to consider running the Gateway Recovery by tapping the key given for that on first boot screen, or in the Manual for your model at Gateway's Support Downloads webpage. If you are within a year of purchase, you have free tech support included to help you with this.

Before running Recovery you can copy your files out of the User folders using the Repair CD in this way: Copy & Paste - in Windows Recovery Console
