Reinstalling Vista w/7RC on the HD....

Okay, now I want to reinstall Vista (the original OS for my PC). I already have a partition set up for it, but when I boot up the Recovery Disc,(manufacturer's version) it goes to the Recovery screen, as if there was some hidden Vista install. After I lost the Vista(screwed it up is more like it) I thought I had erased it when I reformatted and installed Win 7....Or did I?? I don't want to screw up my nice perfect Win 7 after all the crap I went through . Also before I messed up my Vista, I burned a disc with all my files and stuff ,but I can't figure out how to get it into my Vista partition Wheeeeeeee!!!

    Hi Davy,

The recovery disc probably won't install Vista - usually they contain an image , which will only go back on the original partition structure.

If you didn't make your own image of the Vista installation with a 3rd party app., you will almost certainly need a proper M$ Vista installation disc.

You need to use the product key that came on a sticker somewhere on the machine. Depending on the manufacturer, you might need to ring them to activate.

Do you know anyone who has a Vista install dvd?

They are all the same - it is the product key that determines which Edititon is installed, e.g. Premium, Ultimate, etc.

I have the original discs for my PC and there is a sticker on my tower. There are three discs (Supplemental Recovery, System Recovery 1:2 and System Recovery 2:2---I have reinstalled it before, so do I have to call HP to install it? Also of the 3 discs, I have used the 2 SR discs, but I don't recall using the Supplemental disc? Is it a special disc? Recall reinstalling without it and it worked fine....
