Windows 7: HP Pavilon DV6000 & Win7

Hi there, I am having problems trying to make a clean install of Windows 7 on my HP DV6000. I have rpeviously formatted and installed operating systems on many computers, but this one is giving me to fight!

The main problem is that the instalation never continues from the "Windows is loading files" at the start of the CD booting!



Does HP or this pavilon have any issues?

Make your HP REcovery Disks or a backup image so you have a path back to factory condition. You can also extract apps from the HP REcovery disks using this method: HP 3rd Party Software After Clean Win 7 Install

Next make sure you have the latest BIOS version update from HP Support Downloads webpage for your model, which is safest installed from Windows.

CHeck also in the BIOS for SATA controller setting: try AHCI first, then IDE if necessary.

Now wipe the HD to get the cleanest possible slate: SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

If install fails again, remove all but 2gb of RAM and test your ram with memtest for 5-6 passes. http://www.memtest86.com/download.html

Where did you get Windows 7? DId you burn it yourself?

Unfortunately as I thought I had enough experience, I didnt backup any HP safety partition and I just backuped my important data.

About the BIOS, theres not much to do right now, as I cant access to any Operating System! the HD is now empty and I checked on the BIOS about SATA or AHCI and nothing similar.

I didnt try the RAM though. it has 3GB, can be a problem? I think its something more about the HD but I dont know how to make the proper adjustements!

about the DVDs yes, I burnt them myself and I already tried with other versions from friends as well that worked, and always similar problems!

How about the RAM and HD tests I linked you above to burn to CD and run?

Or wiping the HD using the link I provided.

Verify the Windows 7 DVD by installing ImgBurn, choose Verify, load ISO to make sure it says "bootable" in text at left, then insert DVD to Verify against ISO. If fail, burn another DVD at 4x speed with Verify as ImgBurn never fails.

Try removing all but 2gb RAM to try install. Then swap RAM, test RAM.
