    installation help

hi, i got a laptop from dell, the factory shipped os was windows 7 64bit home premium,it shipped without any os discs and it says Create os recovery discs with a backuputility on it. so i created a recover discs of windows 7 it take 2 dvds space.when i insert this discs and and start booting from this discs all the process in unattended installation after few minutes a greeted with a direct welcome screen.but i want to partition my hard drive is there option to partition my hard drive during installation, another question is if partitioned my hdd with any other utility like gparted and starts installation using this discs wheather the partitions will remain or the discs it self partitions the hdd to factory state or not?

Backup disks will self partition back to factory state.

I would set those DVD's aside to use only if you need to ship the machine back for warranty service, or restore to factory condition to sell it.

A better restore is to wait until you have your Win7 setup the way you want it: factory bloatware uninstalled using Revo Uninstaller, all startup freeloaders turned off in msconfig>Startup except AV and gadgets, a lightweight effective free AV like MS Security essentials installed, then the HD cleaned and ordered perfectly with CCleaner and Auslogics Defraggers.

When it is exactly as you like, save externally a Win7 backup image which can reimage the HD or a replacement in 15 minutes to exactly like you want it - not like the factory shipped it.

Most tech enthusiasts even find a clean-copy DVD of their Win7 version to clean reinstall after wiping the HD, activating with the Product Key on COA sticker on the computer. Let us know when if you want to do this later and we can advise you more fully.

When you save the image the first time, it will offer to make you a Win7 Repair disk which is what you would boot to reimage the HD, or even to repair Windows if it won't start. You need this anyway if you don't have a Win7 DVD.
