    Installation Won't Boot

Hey guys... I'm running an Emachines T3256 (>.>) with Ubuntu installed on it. I just split the partition for Ubuntu, formatted the unallocated space, and made it NTFS. I also turned the swap off, after reading it would conflict with a Windows 7 Installation. Anyways, my installation disc doesn't start on boot or even show up on Ubuntu. This disc runs fine on my Vista laptop, but it won't start on my Ubuntu. I set Bios to start from CD/DVD, pressed a bunch of different keys (escape, F-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-0) that were supposed to help boot the DVD, but it still doesn't work. Is Windows 7 incompatible with my computer??? I need help! :S

You should just have to set it to boot from cd/dvd and restart the computer with the disc in the drive. Did you make sure to save the settings in BIOS before exiting?

What exactly happens when you try to boot the win 7 dvd?

Do you see "press any key to boot from cdrom drive"?

Do you see starting windows logo - how far does it get?

I see nothing. The computer boots just as it would without the disc.

In my vista laptop, I see the 'click to boot' thing, and it'd install perfectly.

Its like the computer only accepts other discs and not Windows.... ???

What do you see at the GRUB (Ubuntu's boot manager) screen?

For some reason, I haven't ever seen a grub boot screen on my Ubuntu.

Nevermind all this, though, decided to just install Win 7 on my laptop- loving it! (this way I have ubuntu on my desktop, win 7 on my laptop ((instead of vista x.x )) )! -happy!-
