when you turn on the computer at the bottom right show a little icon of windows media center with an arrow pointing down. I've turned off automatic upgrade and sometimes it still shows the icon. why this?

i'm guessing you have WMC set to run at start up. I believe that is the picture it shows when searching your computer for new or altered files, but I'm not 100% sure.

Did you in Windows Media Center switch off:

1 - Automatically download WMC data in settings/ general/ options for automatic download

2 - Optimization execution in optimization

Some names might be a bit different because I use the Dutch language version of WMC
