Windows 7 - Get media center to accept cable box input

I just got a cable box setup. Media center used to work fine with a direct cable input. Went through a series of steps in media center, put in the correct box ID, got a perfect miniature picture, then told to type in another channel, hit OK, and this worked, but then media center kept repeating the request, (I tried 20 time or so) and each time the channel changed but I was not given the option of "next" to complete the setup. Any suggestions? Thanks
