WMC all of a sudden stopped playing movies

Very odd. I've been using WMC to play movies stored on a home server forever. Recently it stopped working. It will flash up the start of the movie for a split-second, then stop with no error that I can see. Windows media player does the same thing.

What is odd is that I can remote into the windows 7 machine, and play movies just fine.

Any thoughts?

Since this is a recent problem, use the System Restore and restore the PC back to a date when it did work properly. This should take care of it. If not, System Restore has an "undo" option that you can restore the PC back to how it was Before the system restore.

Thanks fireberd. Turned out to be related to audio over HDMI. I reinstalled the audio driver, and that fixed the problem.
