    WMC has stopped responding

I just did a fresh install on my computer of Windows 7, only installed a few programs and BitDefender. However when I try to open Windows Media Center it instantly comes up as "media center has stopped responding" and then nothing happens.

Does WMC require aero or something? I heard it may be graphics card related ~ ive got an ATI 9250 128 meg card. Any way to fix this?

Sorry for the thread dredge however this problem still exists. The solution above has done nothing, and since my original post I have upgraded my 3d card to one that supports aero however this does not seem to have helped at all.

Note I have never been able to run the program, not once from a fresh install. I see many posts about the same problem over the net but they all seem unanswered. Does microsoft know their program is insanely faulty and they refuse to fix it?

What version of Windows 7 are you running? Also, some more information regarding your computer specs could possibly help trouble shoot the problem.

The RC beta 32 bit, 7100 (Although not entirely sure if it has upgraded since). Amd sempron 2800+, 2 GB ram, Radeon 9550.

This is taken directly from the error log file when it crashes on startup. From what I can gather it has something to do with mcepg1-5-0.db but deleting it as stated elsewhere does not do anything. Is it possible I could gain a working copy of this database from another computer and merely paste it in?

I think this has to do with TVpack and the number of TV sources you have configured on your system. You may have to reconfigure your signals and channels.

I don't have any TV sources or a TV card attached to my computer.

Try running System File Checker by entering "sfc /scannow" into a Command Prompt.
