I'm having huge trouble with this. it seemed to only to do 2 folders out of the 5 i had. and hasn't done anything in a few hours.

I ticked create placeholder folder when dvd is inserted. which worked well once. Though now it wont work. i do have 2 dvd drivers though inserting into either does not seem to work.

Is there anything extra that has to be done? playing it in media center(i have tried this though nothing happened) or something else?

Also i'm not doing this with avi's. i'm actually ripping dvds into folders.

I also have already ticked the user in metadata and windows 7 media center option.

EDIT:

Is yammm dead? it's been nearly a year since a release.

Hi All,

I'm new to Yammm and have just installed it for the first time. I've used File2Folder Script 1.0 to ensure all my movies are in separate folders. I've also configured Yammm according to the instructions on the following URL Add Images and Metadata to Windows 7 Media Center Movie Library - How-To Geek
However, Yammm hasn't made any changes to any of my files at all or downloaded any of the artwork of metadata.
Can anyone help? I'm using Windows 7, .net framework 3.5 is installed with service pack one, and all updates have been installed.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Geo

@ Unrealmaster287

Try creating a _STAGING directory under your main movies folder. Have Yammm monitor this folder only.

Place a single directory in there and see if the Yammm service picks it up. (you may need to search for the title in The Movie DB just to get the naming right -ie. I've had trouble getting it to pick up on movies that have a :, which should be replaced with a -. )
I've noticed that Yammm may stop searching if it can't match a folder name to a movie. This may trigger a timeout before continuing, which could be up to an hour.

When you feel comfortable with the naming convention, move chunks or even all of your unique title movies in the folder. Address unusually named or re-made movies in the _STAGING directory after you get the feel for how Yammm searches for matches in The Movie DB.

Overriding errors

YAMMM works for me most of the time, but what do I do when it insists on putting in wrong information? Specifically, if I have a folder and the info is in thetvdb.com and there's a movie by the same name in themoviedb.org, it keeps getting the info from themoviedb. Usually, appending the year fixes it, but in this case, it won't stop the xml from reappearing even though the year is different from what it finds. Also, there doesn't seem to be any way to specify the db entry number for TV, at least that I can find. Is there any way to point it to the right place, or at least keep it from replacing the XML each time I erase it?

the other picture shows wmp icons, i think that the files are not folders and the movie posters have been embedded in the movie files meta data/tags

That's not really a YAMMM issue but an organizational one. YAMMM works with folders, and if you have a folder with the image of a disk (an ISO for example) or the literal contents from a DVD such as a VIDEO_TS sub folder, YAMMM can create and manage the metadata. But it's Windows that will display the folders, the image that is displayed in your example based on the folder's content, or alternatively the images in the other example you posted when there are playable files instead of folders with playable contents.

If you want Windows to display things that way, you will need to convert your videos from folders to a playable file format that WMP can recognize.

But the whole idea behind YAMMM is that you see the movies/videos displayed in Media Center with the proper covers and descriptions, so I don't think you are looking at the right tool. Have you been using Media Center?

New user Windows 2008, Win7 and XBOX 360

Hi, I found Yammm the other week and think it is excellent! Now I just need to get it working properly.

On my server (Windows 2008 R2) I have a HD with all my films on and they are all in individual folders. I have installed Yammm on this server and it is currently monitoring a staging folder where I drop in a number of films and it renames them perfectly, adds artwork etc.

I have a Windows 7 machine with Media Center installed, it is looking to the staging folder/share for the movies and they appear in the library with the artwork but there is no synopsis, genre etc. just the artwork? Why is this? Is this something to do with the AppData folder/DVDinfo file??? Help please I would like the synopsis to appear.

I then go to my XBOX 360 (being used as a WMC extender) and can see the movies but now and again the artwork disappears or doesn't show at all or takes a long time to load. Any ideas on this?

I have quite a few movies but have just been trying to test with a few. I have also noticed Yammm skips some folders but if I rename them e.g. "The Mask" to "The Mas" then back to "The Mask" Yammm picks it up and does the business, anyway of getting around this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Also what is the official site for Yammm?
