This is a fairly common issue. WMC needs to be able to fully identify a QAM channel before it will show it as being there while it's doing a scan. On mine it shows about 7 channels, while in truth, there are something like 125 available. The blame is the cable provider. They should be sending along an identifying data stream that tells WMC what the channels are. However, they really don't care that WMC gets confused since you are a flake and a thief for not renting their DVR.
OK, so go here and check out what you should be getting:
Channels « Welcome to SiliconDust
You will then have to use Edit Channels and or Add Missing QAM Channel to get the channels in the WMC list and associated with the right line-up listing. This is not easy for a beginner to fully grasp all the concepts at play here, so stick with it. The SiliconDust HDHomeRun is much easier for beginners because they have tools outside of WMC that can scan and fully identify all the QAM channels, and a beta tool that can transfer that into WMC for you most of the time.

If you check under Edit Channels you'll likely see 100's of channels, most locked, that your tuner is getting, but there is no identifying information. You'll be supplying that.
Bye.

I don't know quite what the deal is here. I've tried manually entering the channel numbers and that doesn't work either. I've got a Hauppage 1199 and am hooking the cable up through the ATSC connection. As far as I know, my provider is sending clear QAM. Thanks in advance.
