Hi mbm, welcome to the forums.

You might want to check the DVD disk, it could have scratches or fingerprints on it. Does it work on a stand-alone DVD player?

Have you installed the latest codecs?

    I would well advise Shark007.net - Windows 7 Codecs

It sounds like WMC might just be running a 'Preview' of the DVD. I'll look more into it & try to get back to ya.

Found the cause, but not the solution.

It was my soundcard (Audiotrak Cube). When it is plugged in I get the error. Unplugging it and dvd plays flawless.

Any ideas what can be wrong. Playing from HDMI works.
