Windows Media Center doesn't find IR receiver.

I purchased a remote control from Adesso just yesterday. The model name is ARC-1100 if you'd like to Google it. I connected it and everything seemed to be fine. I was able to use it to navigate Media Center as intended. However, I went through the Setup TV Signal options and everything was fine (I even saw video on the manual setup page) up until I got to the IR receiver part. Media Center stated that it could not find the IR receiver even though my IR was connected to the computer. I Goggled it but couldn't find anything. There is no driver for the IR so there's no way for it to have a driver problem. I looked up reviews and there was not one bad review for the remote. Can anyone help me? I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and the latest version of Media Center and I'm trying to connect it to a DirecTV HD set top box model H24. Thanks.

Try checking Windows Update "Optional" Section for Media Center Updates. I have an Hauppauge HVR-1800 Media Center Addition, which includes a Remote and IR Blaster. Without all the Media Center optional windows updates, it did not discover it device management. Make sure all connections are correct.

I realize your getting some functionality out of it, but without all MC updates, it might not be installing the right driver.

You could also go to device manager, find the device, right click it and choose properties. Then choose update driver and allow it to check on-line (windows update).

I would just goto Windows Update, check the Optional Section for MC updates and if any install. When done, shut down system, disconnect the ir receiver/blaster, power up the pc and log into an admin account, then reconnect device.

    Hope this helps.
