Windows 7: WMP12 rebuilds database at every startup

WMP12 rebuilds database at every startup

Hi!

I'm running build 7100 and everytime I start WMP12 it has to rebuild my music library again. Luckily(...) I lost most of my music due to HD failure so it doesn't take that long, but still, a fix would be good. Roommate with same build and same problem. Keeping DB-file as read only as a bad temp fix.

Any ideas?

its a bug

Pretty sure this is an intended MS "feature" which just doesn't work! Lots of workarounds have been suggested elsewhere in these fora - but I think you'll find that none work satisfactorily.
I have a workaround which does work! - install AIMP2 - get ripping, converting, recording anything which goes thru your sound card (eg radio), nice skins, works with any Winamp plugins - and its free.
Not as integrated as WMP but a good substitute while they "fix" their feature.
I suggest you send feedback to MS too (Feedback tool)

I'm having this same problem now. It was working fine on another computer on the same build (7100), but on my new one it rebuilds the library whenever I close Media Player... however, it only does it if Media Sharing is turned ON. Strange...

Deleting the library files hasn't helped - it rebuilds them, then wipes it again on closing.
