WMP 12 - PS3 - Subtitles

Hi,

after following some of the tutorials or topics posted here I managed to get MKV and subtitles working in WMP12. Mostly through installing Shark.

I also managed to link my PS3 and Media Streaming goes very well. The only thing that is nog working are subtitles. I get subtitles when playing movies on my PC in WMP12 but when I go on the PS3 the movies play but without subtitles.

Does anyone have any experience with this?

The subtitle isn't "in" the video. With WMP (or any other media players), it can read the additional metadata/subtitle and render it on top of the video in real time.
When you view the video on your PS3, the video it self needs to be transcoded, that is to decode the audio/video stream then encode it to a stream the PS3 understands. In this process, usually it only reads the original audio/video stream, the additional data (subtitles) aren't processed, thus no subtitles.

I always use MKV2VOB (www.mkv2vob.com) to convert MKV files to a playable format on my PS3 via streaming. You can set several Audio/Subtitle options too, might be worth looking at as it take next to no time to convert most MKV files.
