    Tv Tuner Card

Hi everyone. I have a tv tuner card--WinTvHVR 1250--which I brought three years ago. It was working in my pc, but when I did a factory reset, the card could not be found in device manager. I downloaded the current drivers, but when I tried to installed them I receive an error message stating that the hardware cannot be found. Is the card fried or am I doing something wrong. When I start up WMC it says it is a conflict with listening or viewing--no tuner found. I would appreciate any assistance to resolve this matter. If the card is dead, could someone please point me in the right direction to purchase a new card deanie44

The fast way to see if an expansion card has failed would be to remove it when powered down and clean up the pci slot as well as the rest of the case with a can of air cleaner to blast the dust out. It often ends up being a simple build up of dust and dirt over that amount of time and possibly a lift of the card itself in the slot.

Once you have everything dusted out a firm reseat to insure the card is down into the slot fully should see the new hardward found notification. When back at the desktop look in the device manager to see if any "other devices" are now being listed there. Typically a tv tuner card will be considered a multifunction adapter.

Be sure to remove all drivers and the card's application first however before shutting down, cleaning, reseating, and powering up again to allow Windows to have a fresh detection. Even if you don't see the message for new hardware but still see an item listed under "other devices" in device manager run the driver/software installer. You may at that time see the new hardware found.
