Once you extract the .MSU file you can double-click it to run the install.
what's in that msu ? any msi by any chance? or just a setup.exe ?
If you find the folder 'C:\Windows\ehome' Kris404 mentioned above find a file called and it will be the launcher for Windows Media Center. Right click on the ehshell file > send to > Desktop (Create shortcut) and rename the new shortcut to Windows Media Center , then copy your new shortcut into C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu
I had this same problem and found this cure.
Go to "Start" then "Default Programs" then "Set program access and computer defaults" then "Click Custom" Scroll down to "Chose default media player:" and "Check" enable access next to Windows Media Center.
