can WMC play mkv files?

    can WMC play mkv files?


    i installed the win7codecs (Shark007.net - Windows 7 Codecs) and WMP can play them fine

    Im not sure if you are asking if it can or saying that you got it to work with mkv files. there is a player that deals with mkv files easily. Thats media player classic homecinema.

    no, i want to use WMC, i really like the interface. can it play mkv files or am i missing something?

    Not by default you would need to install something like Project Remoulade

    Yes WMP can play MKV files (i just played one) but you need the proper codecs, and drivers. For an explanation go here AfterDawn.com: Guides: How to play MKV files.

    yes, i know already.. but i want to use MPC too

    If you use MPC with sharks codecs you have to disable all the codecs except AVI in MPC so they don't conflict

    I hate shark codec, simply install FFDSHOW and matrushka spliter and you are set.

    and f you like the interface u might wanna consider installing 'media browser' addon its awesome.

    Yes windows media player on any windows can play any format if you have shark.net's codec packs installed http://shark007.net
