On my 64bit test system i can play those trailers in Media Center without installing any additional codecs.
Use of such tools as MCDU or Win7DSFilterTweaker have most likely broken your system but at least you avoided those evil codecpacks. | My System Specs |

All I can suggest is that next time you get around to formatting your system because you have broken it by attempting to fix playback issues on your own, you avoid the tools/software that are obviously breaking it.
BTW, my codecs are tried, tested and true. They are well known NOT to break your system and will provide FULL support for all your media without any additional software installations or tools what-so-ever.
it is possible that using the [Reset All] button of my Settings Application(s) will correct the issues you are experiencing.
Always remember, proper uninstall of my software can only be performed using the provided uninstall button on the Help TAB of the Settings Application(s) | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Selfbuilt OS Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit CPU i7 2600k Motherboard asus P8Z68-V LE Memory 16GB (4x4) corsair vengeance Graphics Card Intel HD3000 iGPU / AMD HD6870 1024MB Sound Card bitstreamed to an Onkyo 609 Monitor(s) Displays Asus VE278 27" LED / Bravia EX7 60" LED Screen Resolution native 1080p x2 Keyboard Dell Mouse logitech m505 PSU 650w Antec Case NZXT tempest evo Cooling air/stock Hard Drives 4x 2TB int. + 2x 2TB external and a SSD for the boot drive. or will installing your codec pack "reset" things? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number home built OS win 7 pro 64 CPU AMD Phenom 9600 Agena 2.3GHz Motherboard GIGABYTE GA-MA790GP-UD4H Memory Kingston 8GB (4 x 2GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Graphics Card onboard: ATI Radeon HD3300 128MB DDR3 1333MHz Sound Card onboard Monitor(s) Displays 14" ELO flatpanel touchscreen, Sharp DT-510 DLP projector Screen Resolution 1024x768, 1280x720 PSU Rosewill RP550 550W Case COOLER MASTER Centurion 534 Hard Drives WD10EADS 1TB SATA, SAMSUNG 1TB SATA, Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST3320613AS 320GB Internet Speed 20mb down, 2mb up cable Other Info AverDuet tv tuner PCI card, bluray drive, dvd burner drive |

because it does reset Windows itself to the Windows Native default settings.
For the 64bit Settings Application to function, you must 1st install the 32bit Win7codecs. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Selfbuilt OS Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit CPU i7 2600k Motherboard asus P8Z68-V LE Memory 16GB (4x4) corsair vengeance Graphics Card Intel HD3000 iGPU / AMD HD6870 1024MB Sound Card bitstreamed to an Onkyo 609 Monitor(s) Displays Asus VE278 27" LED / Bravia EX7 60" LED Screen Resolution native 1080p x2 Keyboard Dell Mouse logitech m505 PSU 650w Antec Case NZXT tempest evo Cooling air/stock Hard Drives 4x 2TB int. + 2x 2TB external and a SSD for the boot drive. i'll try that then.
i would still like to know what was the actual problem in the first place so i can avoid that in the future. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number home built OS win 7 pro 64 CPU AMD Phenom 9600 Agena 2.3GHz Motherboard GIGABYTE GA-MA790GP-UD4H Memory Kingston 8GB (4 x 2GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Graphics Card onboard: ATI Radeon HD3300 128MB DDR3 1333MHz Sound Card onboard Monitor(s) Displays 14" ELO flatpanel touchscreen, Sharp DT-510 DLP projector Screen Resolution 1024x768, 1280x720 PSU Rosewill RP550 550W Case COOLER MASTER Centurion 534 Hard Drives WD10EADS 1TB SATA, SAMSUNG 1TB SATA, Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST3320613AS 320GB Internet Speed 20mb down, 2mb up cable Other Info AverDuet tv tuner PCI card, bluray drive, dvd burner drive |

If using [Reset All] fixes it, the cause of the problem was Win7DSFilterTweaker
If it is not fixed, and you have used MCDU, use that tool again to try and set things back to Microsoft | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Selfbuilt OS Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit CPU i7 2600k Motherboard asus P8Z68-V LE Memory 16GB (4x4) corsair vengeance Graphics Card Intel HD3000 iGPU / AMD HD6870 1024MB Sound Card bitstreamed to an Onkyo 609 Monitor(s) Displays Asus VE278 27" LED / Bravia EX7 60" LED Screen Resolution native 1080p x2 Keyboard Dell Mouse logitech m505 PSU 650w Antec Case NZXT tempest evo Cooling air/stock Hard Drives 4x 2TB int. + 2x 2TB external and a SSD for the boot drive. Now that I know you havent used these softwares, my next best guess is that some other software (probably a player) modified native registry information for the mov filetype. Attached to this post is the native registry entries for mov containers. Download it, and to install it, doubleclick the file. Test mov files in Media Center.

i installed your shark packs, both 32 and 64 in order as you said. hit "reset all" on both and then the .mov files played in WMC. so then i uninstalled the shark packs using the uninstall button on the help tab, in order, and after complete, i couldn't play .mov files anymore. i also couldn't watch live tv. (live tv worked before uninstalling)
i just tried your .reg file and it installed ok, but i still get the "cannot play video" in wmc.
can you think of anything else for me to try? i'd rather not go to the extreme of reinstalling Windows 7, but if i have to i guess i have to... | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number home built OS win 7 pro 64 CPU AMD Phenom 9600 Agena 2.3GHz Motherboard GIGABYTE GA-MA790GP-UD4H Memory Kingston 8GB (4 x 2GB) DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Graphics Card onboard: ATI Radeon HD3300 128MB DDR3 1333MHz Sound Card onboard Monitor(s) Displays 14" ELO flatpanel touchscreen, Sharp DT-510 DLP projector Screen Resolution 1024x768, 1280x720 PSU Rosewill RP550 550W Case COOLER MASTER Centurion 534 Hard Drives WD10EADS 1TB SATA, SAMSUNG 1TB SATA, Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 ST3320613AS 320GB Internet Speed 20mb down, 2mb up cable Other Info AverDuet tv tuner PCI card, bluray drive, dvd burner drive can't play .mov files from WMC problems?
