I know this issue has been forum'd to death, but I have yet to find a good solution. I have an IR Microsft wireless keyboard & remote (Windows XP Media Center edition) that I use with my Windows 7 HTPC. Everything works just great, but the USB portion seems to be unwantingly waking my computer from sleep mode.
If I do a powercfg -waketimers
from a command line, it returns the culprit of eHome Infrared receiver. Sure enough, if I go into Device Manager, look under USB devices, and find the eHome IR Receiver, I have the option to turn off the ability to allow it to wake from sleep. Although doing this works, I DO want it to be able to wake from sleep when I am acutally using the remote. Thus, I want to leave this feature enabled. The problem is that this USB receiver will additionally just wake the PC in the middle of the night for no reason. I have looked for and fooled with every combination of power management options as well, and nothing seems to help.
Does anybody have any solutions? Is this just how it's going to have to work? Should I be looking for another remote/keyboard option? Thanks
