ATV gen1 as a media server in a Win 7 home envir, help

Is there a thread or two that comes to mind to do a pretty much newb walkthrough of setting up the ATV 1 or 2. I have accomplished the atvusb jailbreak, and see xbmc and boxee, and they load but connecting them to my media that rests on my home pc is difficult.

I have a boxee box, and like the way it plays anything you can throw at it, and the setup wizard was easy. I also like the ui with a ATV, and would love to get boxee and or xbmc working on the three atv's

I would think this is pretty common setup.

I am at a total loss of where to go to edit the source.xml file. i tried Putty but the connecton failed. Would love a total walk through thread if one exist here or at xmbc.org Thanks in advance.
btw, i love this forum. it has been really helpful.
