Audio/Video Stutter/Hesitation

In Win7, I experience a 'stutter' (very noticeable in the audio, less noticeably in the video) while playing ANY type of media. MKV, AVI, MP3, streaming (youtube, etc). I do not have this problem in Win XP. The problem occurs in both 32 and 64 bit versions of Win7 RC.

I have an ASUS m4a78t-e board w/ a Phenom 2 processor.

I am using a pair of ADATA DDR3 1600 modules running at 1333. The modules actually came in a pack of 3 (6GB = 3x2GB), but I am only running two of them. I noticed that the specs call them triple channel, but is that spec related to the RAM itself or the MB's ability to run in triple channel?

If my problem is as simple as replacing my RAM, then I am sold. My only question would be why is XP running fine w/ the same RAM on the same system???

i'm having the same issue
tho i'm just having problems with video files
music works fine
triple channel is a MB feature
but it can't be related to ram really because nothing else is affected
my guess is it'd have something to do with the codecs but i'm really at a loss here

i used both the cccp packages and the win 7 codec pack with no difference
also it doesn't seem to be limited to one codec as all the videos are affected regardless of codec
HD/network activity=0
well no more than is actually necessary for playing the video
in browser streaming is even worse when it comes to video playback (using firefox. didn't test it with any other browser)

I was having pausing problems and I found codec packs caused the issues (shark codec pack) and are just not needed in Win7.

All I had to do was install haali media splitter and I had to install AAC filter to get audio from some some files.

Thats it, There are a couple of videos I'm still having trouble playing though. but they could be old encodes. I'm still testing.

I had same problems with playing all kinds of videos in W7. I tried different codec, but got no luck. I had to switched back to XP for now and wait for solutions.

I had the same problem.

If you have a lot of media files, Win7 starts making thumbs for all those files, which leads to enormous disk i/o.

Just let it finish.

I also disabled indexing on all my media drives, as it was crippling my disks performance.

MS stated indexing wouldn't affect performance, but that's BS.

In explorer right click on the partition you want to disable it for.

Uncheck the indexing check box below, and click ok or apply.
Wait until the settings are applied.
