Windows 7: Windows 7 - XBOX 360 connection failure

Windows 7 - XBOX 360 connection failure

Other than cabling, routing, and firewall issues, can anyone list all of the reasons why an xbox 360 mcx would not connect to windows 7 media center (home premium 64)?

I've had 3 xbox mcx's running for months. Suddenly, last week, all 3 exhibited the same behavior. They get through finding and downloading but end with Connection Failure. Meanwhile, media center functions by itself on the pc without error. I have a Gateway sx2840 dedicated to an hdtv. It has an I3 2.5 ghz, 6gb ram, 1 tb sata hd. It has 2 boards installed, a Ceton infinitv, and a usb 3.0 controller. I have a 3 tb external usb connected to the pc. The pc runs windows 7 home premium 64 sp1 with no firewall or av software enabled. The system does not update automatically, though media center does. The pc and all xboxes have wired connections to my gigE network. I use static ip addressing on all of my devices. It has been stable for months. I have a couple of terraybytes of hd tv recordings. Last weekend I added my music collection to the system. The system worked fine after adding my music.
I've tested all network connections. I can stream video and music to the xbox via media player streaming. I've removed all mcx associations and tried adding the xbox again. Media center goes through the process and successfully adds the xbox. In the middle of the process, the xbox connection fails, and eventually media center times out. The event log shows no errors other than the connection timeout. I tried an auto-restore point from 3 weeks ago and retested. No luck. I ran windows update (there were 3 updates) and retested. Still, no joy.
The xbox works fine when I add it as an mcx to a different Windows 7 media center (laptop) on the same network.

Re-installing the OS seems like overkill (and I'd lose all of the DRM'd content). What else can I try?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
