All of a sudden window media player just stopped.

I am in the middle of a road trip and I have been watching a number of tutorials that were downloaded after purchasing them. There is a combination of .mov, .avi or mp4. The player will start and play about 3 seconds and then it says it is quiting and will offer a solution if one is found but it never offers one. Is there a way to fix this or does anyone have a suggestion on an alternate program that would work on all the programs I listed. Frustrating as heck. I am running Windows 7 but can't keep windows media player open long enough to find a version.

Hi Rattler. First, your version, well everyone's version, of WMP on Windows 7 is version 12, not available for download yet. The fact that your movie's will start and then stop makes me think it is a corrupt file and not that you need to download codec's. I would like to suggest you have a look at this tutorial and this one and see if that solves your problem. If you wanted to download codec's anyway, I would suggest K-lite codec pack.

Please let us know how this work's out and Good Luck. :)

P.S. VLC media player is known for playing all formats and is a free download for the player.
