I personally think there isn't huge problems with WMP12. I love it and combined with Shark codecs, I use it everyday to play my music and video because I don't want to install a third party media player because I'd rather minimize the stuff I install on my computer.

Sure, there are lots of other media players many of which support more media files or codecs, better GUI and stuff but for the media types I often use such as MP3s and FLVs, WMP12 combined with Shark is fit enough to do its thing so I'd rather not install other media players which could leave rubbish behind when removed.

The downside with WMP I see is that its library could get corrupt and it could become rather slow in time but there are tools on the Troubleshooting section which could fix that anyway.

I use WMP12+Shark007 pack for watching my videos, but as far as my music, and managing my various MP3 players, I already had other programs I used for that before I made the upgrade to Win 7.

WMP+Shark007 has played back anything I have ever tried to play with it, so I think it may well be better than the previous versions.
