    Personally for me I only got problems with shark 07 codec pack, no matter what I did I either got no subs or no audio or no video, so you could try a different codec pack and see if it makes any difference, I use k-lite mega codec pack. And with that 1 click install I can use windows media player for everything I do, it plays it all without any problems, not sure if this is of any help but I thought I would give it a go

    Thanks for all the advice. So far so good no issues. I'm still not 100% sure what was causing the corrupt files but I'm not going to sweat it. Although I have noticed most issues somehow find their way to tying up with ATI video drivers on this system. I'm going over to NVidia as soon as I can afford a new card.
