XBOX media center won't connect to windows 7 media center computer

Hi, I've been looking through all these threads regarding this issue and I can't figure it out. For some reason I have an older desktop running XP MCE and without trying to configure anything it automatically sees the XBOX on the network. I'm not interested in running it through that computer though. On my win 7 PC in McAfee it shows everything on the network but I cannot ping the XBOX from cmd. This leads me to believe it's something with that software but even when I shut the firewall off I still cannot ping it. Any help would be great and I apologize if I overlooked other threads.
Justin

Have you, by chance, followed THESE STEPS?

Yup that got me nowhere, I've spent 6 + hours trying to figure this out and I'm getting ready to quit, it's ridiculous that this doesn't automatically configure it when it's on the same network

Is the Xbox configured as an extender for teh XP machine? Are you running a homegroup on your 7 machine? Did you try stopping/disabling any anti-virus or firewalls you may have on the 7 box and rebooting?

I dont believe its configured for the xp machine unless it does it automatically. I am not running a homegroup, and have disabled the firewall and I still dont see it. As far as the xp machine, I reinstalled windows recently and that computer automatically saw the xbox on the network without ever trying to set up as an extender. I'm not understanding why i cannot even ping the xbox through command but its IP address shows up in the network section of McAffee anti virus?

Like I said, I have seen anti-virus and firewalls cause all kinds of problems with setting up extenders.
