Can another Windows 7 PC be used as an extender?

Sorry if this has been asked before, I haven't been able to find anything.

In my house, there are a couple PCs with Windows 7. Is it possible to use another PC with 7 and the media center as an extender? And if both PCs have TV tuners, can they both share the recordings across each other?

    Thanks

hi Evilhugbear, you can't share each others extenders, but you can share folders on the network, this will allow you to build a network library so you can view each others recordings within Media Center, just point the library to the network you wish to use and it will find all files that you've shared on the network.

So I can set a folder for all the recordings to go to, and set the other PC to look there?

Can I have both PCs record to the same folder?

Also, from what my Dad says, some channels encrypt the TV shows. If one PC records a show and it's encrypted, can the other PC play it?

the only shows that are encrypted are the channels that are available on topup TV, you cannot access these channels anyway unless you have paid for them and set up media center to recognise them.

I've had no problem recording to a network location before, but the recording might be an issue as not all network locations will be accessible at all times, it may just be easier to share both recording directories to each PC, hope this helps.

With Ceton tuners, you can share them in some way, but anything recording from one MC to another that has copywrite content on it, will not play on the other MC.
