Media Centre TV crashing when paused

Hi,

I need help sorting out an ongoing problem I have with Windows Media Centre while watching TV on my Computer. I have an inboard Gigabyte GA-PTV-TAF-RH Hybrid TV card and am running it in my 64bit Windows 7 Pro. WMC picks up all the TV channels and works well until I click the pause button. I then lose all picture and when I unpause there is only sound until I pause/unpause again, then I lose sound as well and WMC crashes with the error message "WMC has stopped working". When I restart all is fine until I pause again, and then I have the same problem.

Windows tells me all my Drivers are up to date and working so I don't know what is causing this problem. Can anyone suggest a fix for this please?

Thanks,
Lysander

Hi Brianzion,

Changing the buffer time in registry did not fix the problem, but following instructions from that same website I increased the "skip interval of live and recorded TV". This seems to have had some effect because I have been pausing/unpausing and skipping backwards and forwards without the crash problem occurring. Not sure why this change would fix the problem but it seems to have done the trick.

Thank you very very much for pointing me to that website, I am much obliged.

Lysander.

Why wont the media player or the media centre play MP4's?
Is there a good reason why MS don't equip either the media centre or the media player with the ability to play MP4's. I don't see why they can't play them, and surely it would be in MS's best interest if they could play them.
