Pentium D 2.66GHz dual core hitting the wall upgraded CPU/MB required?

Is a Pentinum D 2.66GHz dual core (P5LD2 MB) sufficient to run 2 Xbox360 extenders + 4 tv recordings simultaneously? Finding that running 1 extender and 2 recordings maxes out CPU. Is this to be expected (XP media center seemed to run on this config no problem). Set up as follows:

- Intel Pentium 2.66GHz dual core
- 3Gb RAM
- Graphics: Nvidia GeForce GT 220
- Motherboard: Asus P5LD2
- 2X Hauppauge NOVA-T-500-MCE Dual (latest newmagic drivers) - last drivers installed
- 4 Xbox 360 media center extenders around home
