    Slow Picture viewing in Media Center

    Hello! I would like to use the Win Media Center to watch my pictures. The pictures are scanned pictures from an older (not digital) camera. Each picture has about 3MB. I would like to switch to the next picture manual (by clicking the right arrow). It takes more then ten seconds until I can see the next picture. I deactivated the "moving pictures" effect but the problem remains.
    The PC is defragmented and there ist enough space on the HDD. If I am using the "normal" picture viewer, I can watch it without this delay.
    (And of course the newest updates are installed)
    I hope anyone has an idea how to solve this problem.

    Hi datroubler, welcome to 7F! :)

    Have you tried going into Picture Viewer, and checking the time delay settings?
    It can be set anywhere from 2 to 60 Seconds.

    Does it affect the manual viewing? I think this refers to the automatic dia show?
    It is set on 2 seconds.

    If it was already set at 2, then no it seems it would not affect it.

    I am working up a series of steps to see if we can get this straightened out for you, it is taking some time to lay it out properly.

    I am not sure if an Edit: will trigger an instant notification to your email, so you may have to check back. If I do not see a notification on my end, I will post a bump.

    I expect to be finished, and posted 'bout 8pm EST (20:00GMT) my time. Approximately 6hours behind you, 2am Frankfort - Hesse time. (02:00GMT 01-08-2012)

    Some Guidlines to troubleshoot Windows Media Center.

    (00:40GMT)

    I changed my mind, and decided that this was too important to use an Edit, therefore the new post.

    ~~~~ ~~~ ~~~~
    We will try to eliminate any possibility that Windows Media Center (WMC) is corrupt.
    If these steps do not help, then the only alternative is to do a Repair Install.
       Note
    These are the steps I would like you to try, and I need you to follow them, preform a re-boot/re-start after each one, then see if your delay remains. If not, go on to the next step.
       Note
    Added note: I have tried to replicate your situation by creating a Slide Show, and running it manually, I used files of various sizes from 10KB all the way up to 4MB. With no noticeable delay.
    1.) Some of the WMC files may be corrupt, Please do a SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
    Did you re-boot? Usually SFC will automatically re-boot on its own. See if your delay remains. If not, go on to the next step.
    2.) Enable, Disable or in your case Disable, then Enable WMC, there are two ways:
    Windows Media Center - Enable or Disable
    Or,
    • Click on the Start menu, type optionalfeatures.exe and press Enter to launch the Windows Features control panel
    • In the Windows Features control panel, expand the item named Media Features
    • Uncheck the items named Windows Media Center and Windows Media Player
    • Click OK, wait for the process to finish, and reboot your computer
    • Click on the Start menu, type optionalfeatures.exe and press Enter to launch the Windows Features control panel
    • In the Windows Features control panel, expand the item named Media Features
    • Check the items named Windows Media Center and Windows Media Player
    • Click OK, wait for the process to finish, and reboot your computer
    Did you re-boot? See if your delay remains. If not, go on to the next step.
    3.) There should be a mediacenterdatastore.db file in directory (c:\program data\microsoft\ehome), I have tried searching for it, but could not find it on my system, If you can, then remove it, and re-boot.
    It will rebuild itself, but you will have to re-check your settings.
    4.) There are Registry settings you may want to explore. I did not go through these.
    Source: https:Aaron Stebner's WebLog | Registry settings that can be used to configure advanced Media Center options=true
    Did you re-boot?
    5.) You can try to rate your pixs, the higher the rating, the quicker they may load.
    This is the best I could find for WMC pixs: View pictures and videos in Windows Media Center
    Did you re-boot?
    6.) This next step is one only you can decide if you really want to do it:
    The Repair Install
    1) Done --> Nothing found
    2) Done --> Problem remains
    3) couldnt't find it too (used the win search and of course made all folders visible)
    4) Nothing for my Problem
    5) I have too much pictures for it
    Another question: I tried to make the normal picture show (is it called dia show too in english?/see the attachement). I start it on my secondary screen but the show appears just on the primary. How can I change this?
    If you did not want to go thru a Repair Install, you may want to consider a third-party app like FastStone Image Viewer It supports Dual-monitors.
    You could do a search on some software sites like Major Geeks or Cnet to see if there are others, I would think there are.
    I do not know, Your attachment tells me nothing.
    Is it similar to this? Diashow erstellen - Diashow Software
    If that is what you are referring to, then by what I have read, it does not support dual monitors, and neither does WMC.
    You would need an add-on like:
    Sorry no
    If i am opening a picture by double clicking in the explorer the windows image viewer appears. I just want to start the slideshow (this should be the right word). But the slide show just appears on the wrong monitor.
