Xbox 360 as Media Extender - Freezing on Startup Screen

I am really get frustrated with this and am hoping someone has some ideas. I have a Windows 7 64-bit machine with a i7 3.4ghz 2600k processor, Windows installed on 120gb Corair SSD, and a new ASUS motherboard. On Sunday, with this machine, I was having no issues whatsoever using my Xbox 360 as a Media Center Extender with this machine. Everything was fast, no lag, etc.

On Monday however, everything came to a screeching halt. Now, when I open Media Center on my 360, it loads connects and loads very quickly, but when it reaches the home screen and defaults to the "Recorded TV" tab, I am either not able to do anything or I am able to make one or two moves from there, and then am not able to do anything. So, it is impossible to use. In most cases, I get there, and cannot do anything (can't move, can't select anything, etc).

All of the subtle animations in the background are still working, and the little shimmer that moves around the selected "Recorded TV" button is still moving, and I am able to go to the Xbox menu by hitting the middle X button on my controller. So it is not like the Xbox is completely frozen, I just can't do anything.

I tried disconnecting and re configuring the Xbox with my computer, and that worked temporarily. I watched about 30 minutes of a show, and then the show cut off and I am back to the same issue again.

I have my shows stored on an external hard drive, however, as a test, I disconnected that completely, and then started everything up, and had the same issues. I have also performed many other tests (rebooting router, restarting xbox and computer multiple times, clearing xbox cache, etc).

One thought I did have was perhaps I was pushing too much media to the xbox. I am a photographer and have about 100k hi-res photos on my computer. Could that be part of the issue? Does the xbox just appear to be frozen, when in fact it is actually processing things?

Was there a recent xbox or Window update that might have caused this?

Anyone have any ideas for me?

Thank you,
